Abstract

Today, the need for digital competencies varies according to the sectors and the level of development of the countries. With the ubiquitous use of information and communication technologies and the continuous development of technology, digital competencies are becoming increasingly important in every sector from agriculture to industry, from the service sector to the energy sector. In the energy sector, it is also used in digital transformation, process automation, digital asset management, workforce management and process improvement. The aim of this study is to determine the digital competencies of researchers working in the energy sector by examining the projects carried out by the energy sector, which makes a significant contribution to the sustainability of all sectors, by integrating technology into business processes. In the study, the search engines of Web of Science, Researchgate and Ulusal Tez Merkezi were searched by searching the research articles and theses in the domestic and foreign literature, which were listed by typing the keywords 'digital solution in energy', 'digitalization in energy', 'energy management', 'energy resources'. The articles and theses that include 'realized digital transformation projects' were selected and analyzed. Document analysis was used as the data collection method, and the content analysis of the data was made with the Maxqda program. The fact that the analysis of digital competencies in previous studies was mostly done on the digital perceptions of teachers and teacher candidates in the education sector, and the absence of any studies that conducted digital competency analysis on practices in working life, made it possible to realize that there is a gap in this field in the literature. In this study, it is thought that this study is original because it brings a holistic perspective to the labor market by measuring the digital competencies of the employees in the energy sector and combining the qualifications with the fields that form the basis of working life such as employment and green jobs. With this study, it was concluded that the most observed competence in researchers in the energy sector is the evaluation of data, information and digital content, artificial intelligence applications in energy are mostly used for design purposes and digital transformation projects focus on hybrid energies.
