Abstract

Human settlements are undergoing major changes. While the urban population exceeded the rural population for the first time in the world in 2007, rural areas also entered a rapid process of economic, social and physical change. This change is a multifaceted change that includes social, physical and economic aspects. The changes that occur in the rural area are tried to be associated with the rural gentrification concept that emerged with the tendency of the urbanites towards the countryside. While the uncertainty of rural-urban boundaries and land uses with changing functions continue to be discussed, there have been many studies on this subject, especially after the 2000s In this article, a scientific search was carried out from the databases of studies on rural gentrification. A bibliometric analysis was made of 200 publications between 1980 and 2022 for studies searched by the Web of Science using the keyword "rural gentrification". The numerical analysis of the publications produced by individuals or institutions in a certain area, in a certain period and in a certain region, and the relations between these publications, both by listing and visually pouring into network maps, allow the subject to be better explained and comprehended. Collaboration, common usage analysis and citations were analyzed and the countries, institutions, important journals and keywords that made the most studies on this subject were revealed as relational. These were clustered and knowledge maps were presented for future studies and academic collaborations.
